The images, text and other information included on this CD-ROM are to be used only for personal, educational, non-profit purposes.
Installation
There are many ways to access the site from the CDROM:
WINDOWS95
1. Click on "Start", then "Run". In the "open" dialog box, type "d:\art\Artchive on CDROM\index.html" [where "d" is the letter assigned to your CDROM drive]. Be sure to include the quotation marks at the beginning and end. Click on "OK". Your default web browser will open and display the home page of the site.
2. If you don't want to have to type the filename every time, you can add an icon to your Start bar. The easiest way to do this is to open the Windows Explorer ("Start", "Programs", "Windows Explorer"). Click on your CDROM drive in the left window. Then double-click on the "Artchive on CDROM" folder in the right window. Locate the file "index.html" and RIGHT-drag it with your mouse onto the "Start" button, then let go of the mouse button. "index.html" will now be listed among your programs when you click on the Start button.
3. You can place a program shortcut on your desktop. Open the Windows Explorer as in number 2 above. Adjust the window size so that both the Explorer and the desktop can be seen on your monitor. In Windows Explorer, click on your CDROM drive in the left window. Then double-click on the "Artchive on CDROM" folder in the right window. Locate the file "index.html" and RIGHT-drag it with your mouse onto the desktop. When you release the mouse button, a popup menu will appear. Select "Create Shortcut(s) Here". Double-click on the shortcut to open your browser and display the home page of the site.
4. From Patron Charles Power: "As an Internet Explorer user I found your instructions way too complicated. All that one needs to do is to browse files to index.html and then grab that URL as a Favorite."
5. Similarly from Patron Andre Fokkam: "I use Netscape and have found that the easiest way to access the CD ROM is simply to bookmark the index.html file."

Step 1: Insert the cd.
Step 2: Launch Netscape Navigator. (It is not necessary to sign on)
Step 3: Place the cursor on File in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Step 4: Select Open File...
Step 5: Open "Artchive On CDROM".
Step 6: Open <<Index.html>>
Note that you can view the images and text files (which give title, date, media, size and location of the works) outside of the site by opening them from the "images" folder using your preferred graphics client and word processor, respectively.
